Attend your local Board of Education meetings and Board of Health meetings.  Go and observe to learn what they are talking about.  These meetings allow for public comment, so you can prepare a short statement to comment on an issue of concern. Stay calm, stick to facts and ask them questions. In these forums they aren't required to reply to questions, but let them know you will follow up with an email with your concerns. Send them the follow up email.

Talk with your friends and neighbors. Educate them with what you are seeing and learning in the media and in your town.  Become an engaged citizen and voter.  Help others to do the same.
